Doors rarely give out without warning. First come the warning signs, a scrape here, a jerky lift there, a door that changes its mind partway up, until the day it quits for good. In Catalina it usually picks a workday, with the commute down Oracle Road stuck behind a shut garage. We are up at the north end daily, so a Catalina call gets a truck from nearby, not from across the city.
oversized shop and RV springs too
dusty gear housings, crooked sensors
you know the cost before we start
Catalina is a mix rather than a single build-out. Some of these houses and shops have been here for decades on their original hardware, while the newer lots came with heavier insulated doors. Next-door neighbors can be years apart on wear, and on a property with a shop or a barn as well, the door that fails first is rarely the one anyone was watching. We cover everything from Golder Ranch to the Oracle side, and we look at every door on the lot before quoting so nothing catches you out next month.
House doors, detached shops, barns and RV bays, from Golder Ranch up toward Oracle.
Any major opener brand. Up here the trouble is usually drive dust packed into the gear housing or a sensor bumped out of line, both handled on the spot without a new unit.
Wind off the Santa Catalinas plus a worn roller can lift a door right out of its track. It goes back on the rails, the faulty roller or bracket is replaced and the door is balanced again.
The visit that pays off on an unpaved drive: grit cleaned out, springs adjusted, sensors tested and a check for packrat nests before they jam anything.
Panels faded by sun and drive dust, plus a stiff bottom seal letting grit in, swapped out so the door closes clean against the slab.
Insulated house doors and the oversized shop, barn and RV bay doors that come with bigger Catalina lots, measured and installed in one visit.
Torsion and extension springs in the usual sizes, carried on the truck. Big shop and RV doors burn through springs, making this the repair Catalina calls about most.
On older Catalina properties the shop or barn door is often the one past saving: original hardware, sun-cracked panels and a frame that has shifted. Each opening is measured and priced separately before the new door goes in, and taller RV bay doors get heavier springs and a stronger opener to suit. The house door gets the same treatment, and an insulated model takes the edge off the afternoon heat.
Wide, heavy openings hung with the right hardware.
Taller doors matched to a capable opener.
A cooler garage on a sunny, open lot.
We take the old door off the property.
Catalina sits at the north end of Oracle Road on bigger, more open lots than anywhere closer to town, right under the Santa Catalinas. Dust from dirt roads, gusts falling off the mountains and plenty of detached shops shape the work we do up here.
A great many properties here are off unpaved drives, and that dust never takes a season off. It gets under the weatherstripping, coats every roller and the gear train in the opener, and wears the bearings from inside, so Catalina doors start sounding rough well ahead of schedule.
Gusts drop off the mountains straight onto these open lots. They push on a double door from edge to edge and slowly rack it out of square, so it drags on one side before anything has broken. We can realign the tracks and get it running true.
Bigger lots up here usually mean a detached shop, a barn or an RV bay as well as the house. Those doors are almost always older, on original hardware, and often oversized, which makes them the ones that fail hardest and least conveniently.
Out on these lots the mechanism itself becomes shelter. Packrats nest in the spring assembly and along the tracks, and the damage is usually found only when something jams. It is a genuine failure cause here rather than a curiosity, and worth checking for before it costs a spring.
In Catalina the opener usually takes the blame because it is what stopped, though it is normally the last part to give up. On these lots something else, most often dust, has been making it strain for months. So the technician works through it all first: the springs measured for tension, rollers and bearings checked for drive dust, tracks the wind has pushed out of square, the spring assembly for nests, the cables and the safety reverse. Then you get a single firm price for the house door, the shop door or both.
Springs, cables, rollers, tracks, the opener, the reverse and a nest check, on every door on the lot.
A real person on the phone, a technician who shows up when promised, and the cost settled before any work.
Let us know the symptoms and whether it is the house or the shop, so we bring the right springs.
Every door you want checked gets inspected, with one clear price before we begin.
Springs, rollers and opener parts for dusty north-end lots ride along, so most Catalina jobs wrap up in one trip.
We run it several times, check that it holds level under a hand lift, test the auto-reverse, and remove the old parts.

Missy and Zen were great to work with. Our old garage door needed to be replaced and Zen and Missy were very helpful in suggesting a new garage door. Zen did an excellent job installing it. The new door looks so much better than our old one and so quiet. We love it!+0Posted on Google![]()

I had my tension spring snap on my garage door. I called them up and spoke to the owner, Melissa. Fantastic lady. I sent her pictures of the garage door and its issues. I told her I lived in the La Estancia community and was referred by a neighbor who was also satisfied with their work. She got me squared away with an appointment in 2 days and the price was reasonable. She didn’t try to upsell me at all. As a mechanic myself in the Air Force, I asked her if it’s better to do both springs rather than just the broken one. She said she recommended it, but didn’t want to feel like she was upselling me, which I absolutely appreciated. I went ahead and asked for both to be done because of the cycle life of the springs. Zeneroso was my mechanic. He came on time. Very friendly young man. We had a chat throughout the install. It was mostly about garage doors, he walked me through everything because I like to know how to do things myself. I couldn’t do this job at the time due to my lower back. The company was great, the owner was great, and the mechanic was great. Zeneroso put the company sticker on the door which was great, because Discount Door Service is going to be my garage door company moving forward. Thank you guys so much! Pictures are the before and after!+3Posted on Google![]()

I really like the service that Melissa and her crew provide. Zeneroso Came to fix my garage Door issue and he was very professional, courteous, friendly, and fun to talk with. He came sooner than expected, which was a huge plus and helped out in my situation tremendously. I live in the southwest part of Tucson and I know it’s tough to get out to this side of town for service needs. He was also knowledgeable and gave me some good tips about garage door maintenance. I appreciate his good work ethic. I would definitely recommend Melissa and her team to anyone looking for honest and professional help with your garage door needs.Posted on Google![]()

I couldn't be more pleased with a garage door service. The guy who came to fix the door, went above and beyond and even fixed a rattling noise that had been there since we bought the property over 10 years ago all it took was a couple of little adjustments!! It was so amazing. I highly recommend giving them a call I don't think you'll be disappointed. When I asked for a general price range (knowing that they can't be completely specific or 100% sure because they haven't truly been able to assess the problem but are going off what you have told them) They actually gave me a price!! Unlike the others who will only schedule an appointment - waisting my time when the price might be too high for this month. I am truly pleased with this company and highly highly recommend them to everyone. Thank you thank you, thank you. Your service was amazing. 🙂Posted on Yelp![]()

The people at Discount Door were fabulous. It's my second experience with them in the past year in my new house that I had purchased. They were timely. The estimate was reasonable and honored to the penny and they were very communicative with notices about arrival and work time. Both Tyler and Zenoroso were first to work with! I highly recommend a Discount Door!Posted on Yelp![]()

I had used Discount Door Service last year to replace a coil spring and some worn hardware - everything went well. I had to call them again for a different problem with the door and I thought: "By golly, EVERYONE should know how good these guys are!" I generally don't bother with reviews, but I thought you should hear this. A young man named Zeneroso showed up (on time) and he was with a guy named Ty. I had a "sagging" door and they quickly came up with a plan and a price. I liked their proposal and they were in and out in less than 1 hour. I couldn't be happier. You got garage door trouble? Close this review and call Discount Door right now.Posted on Yelp![]()

Great service. Great price. Courteous and knowledgeable. Made reasonable recommendations without pressure sales that many companies use these days. He replaced the rollers for my garage door, and serviced it, in addition to troubleshooting why it was 'acting up' and fixed it! HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY!!
Big shop and RV doors wear springs out fast up here. If one snaps, nobody can lift that door by hand, and we usually replace it on the first visit after you approve the price.
Use these as a starting point. Oversized shop and barn doors weigh more and call for sturdier hardware, so the exact amount is set on site and written down for you first.
Door doing something not listed here? Call, describe it, and we will give you our honest take.
Yes. Catalina, Golder Ranch, SaddleBrooke and out toward the town of Oracle are all on our usual north-end route.
Usually the same day. We are at the north end often enough that the drive rarely starts from the far side of town.
Yes, and those often need it most. They tend to be older, oversized and running on hardware nobody has touched in years, so we check them on the same trip.
Unpaved drives. The dust never lets up and works its way under tired weatherstrip into the rollers. A rough sound is the early warning, and fixing it then is cheap.
Check for nesting before anything else. On lots like these, packrats build in the spring assembly and along the tracks, and it is a real cause of breakdowns here, not a rare one.
Yes. Taller shop and RV bay doors are a regular job up here, fitted with hardware heavy enough for the size.
Yes. SaddleBrooke is part of our north-end route, and it also has its own page with details for that community.
Very much so. A once-a-year clean, lube and balance keeps dust from chewing through rollers and springs, and it costs a fraction of the repairs it heads off.
Frank answers, the cost agreed first, and someone who knows the north end. Call or text (520) 579-9084.
