Rollers give more warning than almost any other part. That warning is the cheap window in which to act.

The classic sign. The bearing has lost its grease, taken on dust, and is now rolling metal on grit. Once you can hear it from inside the house it has been going on a while.

A roller with a flat spot does not roll, it skids. You feel it as a stutter at the same point in the travel every time.

That is the roller wearing itself away. Worth looking for, because it confirms the diagnosis without taking anything apart.

A bent stem or a wheel that no longer turns. This is the stage immediately before the door starts trying to leave the track.
All ten, not the two that squeak. Rollers wear together, and a new roller next to a worn one simply hands the load straight back to the old ones.
Nylon runs quieter and does not chew the track. What matters as much is stem length and diameter matching your hardware, which is where cheap kits go wrong.
Roller stems sit in the hinges. Worn or splayed hinge barrels wreck a new roller quickly, so they get inspected at the same time.
The rollers get lubricated. The track gets wiped. Grease in the rail is a dust trap and it is the single most common well-meant mistake we undo.

Most sectional doors take ten. Taller doors and some double doors take more.
Sealed nylon costs a little more than basic steel and is quieter and kinder to the track. On a door next to living space it is worth it.
If hinge barrels are worn oval, new rollers alone will not fix the noise.
Rollers left to fail completely tend to take a section of rail with them, and that is a different job.
