The classic sign. The bearing has lost its grease, taken on dust, and is now rolling metal on grit. Once you can hear it from inside the house it has been going on a while.

A roller with a flat spot does not roll, it skids. You feel it as a stutter at the same point in the travel every time.

If hinge barrels are worn oval, new rollers alone will not fix the noise, and the hinges need replacing too.
