What is yours doing?
Two of these are specific to how Genie units are built, which is why generic opener advice often does not fit them.

Usually an Intellicode compatibility problem. A remote sold as universal is not automatically a Genie remote, and the programming sequence differs from other brands.

The rail has dried out or been lubricated with the wrong thing. Screw drives need a specific grease, and heavy general-purpose grease turns into a dust trap in this climate.

The carriage assembly has failed to re-engage after the release was pulled, or the inner trolley has worn. Common, and repairable.

An Intellicode pairing problem involves no parts at all. A carriage or a board does.
