Your options

Types of garage door insulation we install in Tucson

We match the right material to your door, your garage and your budget. Here are the garage door insulation options we fit in Tucson, what each one is good at, and who it suits.

01Cost effective

Polystyrene panels

Rigid foam boards cut and fitted to your exact door. A cost-effective way to insulate almost any existing door, and they dampen rattle and vibration so the door opens and closes noticeably quieter.

02Desert heat

Reflective radiant barrier

A reflective foil layer that turns back radiant heat. A strong fit for hot Tucson summers and for detached garages where the goal is taking the edge off the afternoon sun.

03Best insulated

Polyurethane insulated doors

Foam is injected and bonds to the door for a quieter, sturdier door. If yours is worn out, an insulated replacement may be the better value. See our garage door installation page.

04Seals

Weather seals and bottom seal

Insulation only works if the gaps are closed. We check the seals around the frame and replace the bottom seal if it is worn or missing, which also keeps out the dust that blows in with every monsoon storm.

Balance check after the install

Insulation adds to the door, so we test the balance when the install is done to make sure it opens and closes the way it should. Spring or cable issue? See our garage door spring repair.

Not sure which insulation suits your door?

Insulated doors

Insulated garage door brands we install

Sometimes a new insulated door beats insulating an old one. We install Clopay, Amarr, Wayne Dalton and Martin doors with polystyrene or polyurethane cores, and service all four after the install.

Clopay insulated doors

One of the most widely installed residential brands in the country, so matching sections and hardware stay easy to find years from now.

Amarr insulated doors

A wide range from plain steel to carriage-house styles, on standard hardware that keeps future repairs simple.

Wayne Dalton insulated doors

Replacing an older Wayne Dalton? We know their TorqueMaster spring system well and will explain what changes with the new door.

Martin insulated doors

A smaller manufacturer than the big names, for an insulated door that does not look like every other one on the street.

Why insulate

Four reasons Tucson homeowners book garage door insulation

A little insulation goes a long way, in comfort, quiet and your energy bill. These are the four reasons people call us about insulating a garage door.

01

Your energy bills climb every summer

An uninsulated door hands heat straight into the garage and the rooms beside it. Insulation slows heat transfer, so your AC works less and your energy bills come down.

02

The door rattles every time it moves

Insulation dampens rattle and vibration, so the door opens and closes noticeably quieter. If a bedroom or office sits next to the garage, you will hear the difference.

03

The garage is unusable half the year

An insulated door keeps the garage cooler in summer and warmer in winter, and any adjoining rooms feel the difference too. That matters if it is a workshop, a gym or attached to living space.

04

The door dents too easily

A single-layer door is thin. Insulated doors resist dents and stand up to daily use for longer, which is worth weighing if your door is due for replacement anyway.

Insulate or replace?

Garage door installation with an insulated new door

In most cases we can insulate the door you already have. But if the panels are sagging, rusting or the door is near the end of its life, a new insulated door may be the better value, and we will tell you which at the assessment. Polyurethane and polystyrene insulated doors are stiffer, quieter and better at holding back the afternoon heat.

Thinking about a new door instead?

Most new garage doors we install in Tucson land around $1,900, including haul-away of the old door. The measure and estimate are free.

Insulation assessment and quote

Free

Real price before any work begins

  • Door measured and seals checked
  • Clear plan, no surprise invoice
  • No upsells, no obligation

Garage door insulation cost depends on your door size and the material, and we give upfront, honest pricing after a quick assessment. Four things move the number.

01

Door size

A double door has more panel area to cover than a single, so it takes more material and more fitting time.

02

Insulation material

Polystyrene panels, a reflective radiant barrier or a new polyurethane insulated door each sit at a different point on cost and performance.

03

Your door's condition

We assess your current door and either insulate it or recommend a replacement if that is the better value for you.

04

Seals and gaps

Gaps around the frame and a worn or missing bottom seal need fixing for insulation to work, and they are part of the plan.

You get a clear plan and a real price before any work begins. No surprises, ever.

Tucson homeowners

What Tucson does to an unprotected garage door

A west-facing door in July takes the full force of 110-degree afternoons, and an uninsulated door passes that heat straight into the garage. We have seen what happens when the wrong material gets used: sagging panels, moisture buildup and insulation that quits working after one monsoon season. Every recommendation we make is based on your door and what Tucson summers actually put it through.

Awesome Service at a Great Price!!!! I had Discount Door Services install two high-lift garage door conversions on my existing doors. Two competitors quoted me a much higher price and didn't seem all that interested in the job. In contrast, Paul visited my home, spent time discussing my goals for the project, went over my options and provided the most reasonable quote. Simply stated, he went the extra mile to earn my business! Corey did great job on the install. He arrived on time and made sure I was happy with the final results. The doors operate perfectly! There were no surprise charges or issues. Overall it was probably the best home repair / service experience that I have had in a long time, possibly ever! I will certainly give them my business if I ever need future garage door service and I will recommend them to friends and family. High quality service at great prices is hard to find these days, but you will find it with Paul and Corey at Discount Door Services! Thanks guys!

Yes. An insulated door slows heat transfer, so your garage stays cooler in summer and warmer in winter, and any adjoining rooms feel the difference too. In a Tucson summer, that is the difference you feel first.

It does. Insulation dampens vibration and rattle, so the door opens and closes noticeably quieter. That is worth having if a bedroom or home office sits next to or over the garage.

In most cases, yes. We assess your current door and either add insulation to it or recommend a replacement if that is the better value for you. If replacement wins, see our garage door installation service.

Most garage door insulation jobs in Tucson are done the same day, often in just a couple of hours, depending on the door. We test the door balance and walk you through the finished work before we leave.

It depends on your door and how you use the garage. Polystyrene panels are a cost-effective fit for most doors, a reflective barrier turns back radiant heat on detached garages, and a polyurethane insulated door is the sturdiest option if you are replacing anyway.

If nobody spends time in it, the case is weaker and we will say so. If it is a workshop, a gym, or attached to living space, or the door faces west, insulation changes how the room feels.

Yes, where they need it. We check the gaps around the frame and the condition of your weather seals, and replace the bottom seal if it is worn or missing. Insulation does far less with gaps left open.

Insulation adds to the door, so we test the door balance when the install is done to make sure it opens and closes the way it should. If a spring or cable needs attention, we tell you before any work is done.
