Catalina is a mix rather than a single build-out. Some of these houses and shops have been here for decades on their original hardware, while the newer lots came with heavier insulated doors. Two neighbors can be on completely different clocks, and on a property with a shop or a barn as well, the door that fails first is rarely the one anyone was watching.

Catalina sits at the north end of Oracle Road on bigger, more open lots than anywhere closer to town, right under the Catalinas. Dirt-road dust, wind coming down off the range and a lot of detached shops and second buildings are what shape the work we do up here.
A great many properties here are off unpaved drives, and that dust is constant rather than seasonal. It works past the seals into rollers and opener gears and grinds the bearings out from the inside, which is why doors here start sounding rough years earlier than they should.
